Problem in downloading a PDF file in vista IE. Language used is PHP. Same code works in windows XP

This is not a php issue, it's how the MIME type is setup in your browser. You need to tell it what to do with a pdf document.

Do you have Acrobat or something that can open the file installed? If not, it's going to just prompt you to download,and not have a program associated with it.
