as drivin round locally i never really go above 50mph, am thinkin of changin car to maybe a 1.4 or 1.7 diesiel in a hope in cuuting down my fuel bill,,,would it be worth changin to one of the two above options ie cut my fuel bill enough to save me a fair bit of weekly fuel bill (which is around 15 to 20 quid)

What you have to work out is....will buying a new car actually save you money in the long run? If your Focus is old and a bit ropey, it might make sense to change it, but if not, bear in mind buying a brand new car costs thousands in depreciation, and if you buy a secondhand one, you don't know what your expenses will be on it.

I always reckon it's not worth changing a perfectly good car for another one just to save (in your case) maybe ￡5-￡10 a week in fuel bills. If you buy from a dealer, his profit on the deal alone will cost you 2-4 years worth of fuel savings!
